Each coat is made in the Luna atelier in Pozarevac, Serbia, and ships from California within 1 business day. Below, we say which coat goes over which Luna dress.

Which coat goes over what you are wearing

We make the dresses as well as the coats, so we can match them by where each hem falls.

• A gown that reaches the ankle or the floor needs a coat that reaches mid calf, or a coat at the knee with a full skirt. The Nicole Wool Wrap Coat in Solid Black ($825) reaches mid calf, and its full flared skirt closes over a full skirted gown.
• Wear the Clara Wool Trench Coat in Navy Blue ($910) or the Kim Classic Long Coat in Beige ($680) over a midi. Both end at mid calf, level with a dress such as the Julia Navy Floral Midi Dress ($695).
• If the dress ends at the knee, the Lucy Wool Coat with Faux Fur Collar in Red ($910) ends there too. So does the Rea Jacquard Trench Coat ($770), which is closer to cream than beige in the photos.
• The Clara and the Linea Belted Midi Coat in Ivory ($770) go over a suit. Their shoulders are cut to sit over a tailored blazer.
• Short dresses and jumpsuits take an Iris Short Tailored Coat ($770). The beige Iris stops at the same height as the Melisa Short Corset Dress in Beige ($670). The black Iris goes over the wide legs of the Aria Jumpsuit ($595), and the brown Iris over the Jody Lace Jumpsuit in Black ($550).
• The Selina Wool Cape in Black ($770) is worn open with a tie belt. It ends at the hip and leaves the whole skirt of a dress in view.

Choose the length that covers the dress you wear most. The Nicole in black and in gray, the Linea, the Clara, the Isidora, and the Kim reach mid calf. The Lucy, Paula, Emma, and Rea coats end at the knee, as does the red Selina coat. The Iris coats stop above it.

Which Luna coats close over a full skirt?

The Lucy in black or red and the Nicole in black or gray herringbone have a full flared skirt that closes over a full skirted dress. The Kim is flared, the Clara a gentle A-line, and the Linea a slight A-line. The Iris coats have a tiered flounce, the cape hangs open, and the rest are slim or straight.

Which Luna coat goes with the most Luna dresses?

The Nicole Wool Wrap Coat in Solid Black ($825) does. In September 2026 we matched each of the 54 Luna dresses and jumpsuits to our coats by length, skirt, color, and formality. The Nicole in black suited 28 of them, which makes it the least complicated coat in the house to choose.

What is the difference between winter coats and light coats at Luna?

The 9 winter coats cost from $770 to $910, and most are long fiber wool. The 8 light coats cost from $680 to $880 and come in cotton blends, jacquard, and soft touch polyester. The Isidora and the Kim are light coats that still reach mid calf.

What sizes do Luna coats come in?

Luna coats run from size 2 to size 14 across the range. Each coat page shows the sizes you can order today. If you are between sizes, order both and send back the size that does not fit, since US returns are free within 30 days.
