Description

The Iris Short Tailored Coat in Deep Black is a cotton-blend short coat in deep black, finished with a full front zipper, a double-ring belt, and a tiered hem. It is built as the architectural short coat that pivots between executive structure and feminine movement, with a subtle satin finish that photographs as dressed rather than utilitarian under evening lighting.

Fabric
81% cotton, 14% polyamide, 5% elastane. The cotton content gives the coat the structural body of a tailored blazer; the satin finish adds dimensional light reflection that separates the Iris from a flat-black short coat. The elastane delivers shape recovery across long wear. Handcrafted in the Luna atelier in Pozarevac, Serbia. In deep black, the satin finish photographs as dressed under restaurant and evening lighting while reading as professional under daytime conditions.

Fit
True to size with the full front zipper closing cleanly from waist to throat. The double-ring belt sits at the natural waist with adjustable definition. The tiered hem adds feminine volume at the hip line without crossing into bulk. The sleeve length clears the wrist of a blazer cuff by 1/2 inch. The short length sits at or just below the natural waist of most midi dresses. Between sizes, choose the smaller for a closer tailored line or the larger for additional layering room. See the Luna sizing guide for measurement specifications. Model is 5 foot 9 inches wearing size 2.

Styling
For mother of the bride and mother of the groom evening receptions, layer over the Lucy Jacquard Midi Dress in Midnight Blue or the Jody Lace Cocktail Dress in Bordeaux for arrival coverage.
For executive daytime in moderate climates, pair over the Olga Wrap Dress in Navy for tonal cross-coordination.
For evening pivots, layer over the Aria Jumpsuit in Black for an all-black ensemble with dimensional finish.
For rehearsal dinners and engagement parties, the coat sits cleanly over the Iris Midi Dress in Dusty Rose.
For client dinners that move from boardroom to restaurant, the Jody Lace Clutch Bag in Black completes the silhouette.
Hold 1 metal tone across all hardware.

Care
Dry clean only. Iron or steam on low only. Do not bleach. Black satin-finish fabric shows lint and dust faster than matte black; brush with a stiff-bristle clothes brush after every wear. Store on a broad padded hanger.

Why is the satin finish important on a black short coat?
Black flat fabric absorbs light and photographs as a void at restaurant arrivals and evening events. Black satin-finish fabric reflects light dimensionally and photographs as luxe. The Iris satin finish is subtle (not slick or evening-only); it carries enough reflection to read sophisticated under restaurant lighting while remaining appropriate for daily executive wear.
How do I avoid the all-black blur in photographs?
One accent color, never three. A pearl earring, oxblood clutch, or champagne pump anchors the photograph against the black field. The Mila Draped Midi Dress in Abstract Taupe is the most-photographed underdress option; the taupe breaks the black field at the neckline.
How is this different from the Iris in Beige and Brown variants?
Identical construction; color is the difference. Black is the most versatile across formal, evening, and daily contexts and the entry-point of the line. Beige is the warm-palette neutral. Brown is the warm-tone alternative for fall-leaning wardrobes. Many women own one variant and add a second within two seasons.
Why a cotton blend with satin finish instead of pure cotton or wool?
The blend is engineered for the way the coat photographs. The 81 percent cotton holds the structural silhouette; the 14 percent polyamide adds durability and dimensional sheen; the 5 percent elastane gives natural movement and forgiveness through the bust and shoulder. The result is a coat that photographs with the light reflection of satin and the daytime appropriateness of cotton.
How should I size?
Luna coats are cut true to size for wear over a blazer or a knit. Measure your bust at the fullest point, add four to six inches of layering ease, and compare the result with the size chart on the product page. If you are between sizes and will wear the coat over suiting most days, take the larger size. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
What is the return policy?
A 30 day return window applies.
