Luna makes 8 light coats and trenches in cotton blends, jacquard, and soft touch polyester, from $680 to $880. Wear them over a dress, a jumpsuit, or pants in fall and spring. Each coat is made in the Luna atelier in Pozarevac, Serbia, and ships from California.

Which light coat goes over your dress

Luna makes these dresses as well, so each pairing below comes from where the hems fall in the product photos.

• The Emma Light Coat in Teal Floral Jacquard ($880) ends at the knee. So does the Jody Lace Cocktail Dress in Midnight Green ($550). In size 2 the coat measures 42 inches from the back of the neck and the dress 39, so the coat just covers the hem. The Emma in silver ($880) does the same over the Jody in bordeaux ($550).
• Over a daytime midi, wear the Kim Classic Long Coat in Beige ($680). It is a trench with a flared handkerchief hem, and it reaches mid calf, level with the fuchsia Charlotte Elegant Midi Dress ($595).
• The Rea Jacquard Trench Coat ($770) is a pale cream in the photos. It ends at the knee, level with the Betty Ruffle Dress in Black Polka Dot ($695).

Our light coats are made in cotton blends, jacquard, and soft touch polyester. The wool coats are in Winter Coats. The Emma coats are a jacquard woven with metallic threads, the Isidora is a cotton blend with stretch, and the Kim is a soft touch polyester.

Which Luna coats are trench coats?

The Kim ($680) is a long trench with a storm flap, epaulettes, and a tie belt, and it reaches mid calf. The Rea ($770) is a jacquard trench with a snap front. It ends at the knee. The Clara ($910) is the wool trench, and it is in Winter Coats.

How long are the Luna light coats?

The Kim and the Isidora reach mid calf. The Emma and Rea coats end at the knee, and the Iris coats stop 3 to 4 inches above the kneecap. In size 2 the Iris measures 36 inches from the back of the neck and the Isidora measures 51.

What shade are the beige coats?

In the product photos the Rea is cream, a pale ecru lighter than beige. The Kim is stone cream, and the beige Iris is close to cream. The Isidora, sold as mocha, is a warm taupe with a mauve cast. For chocolate brown, choose the Iris in brown.

How do the Iris coats close?

The Iris Short Tailored Coats close with a full front zipper and a buckled belt. Each has an oversized collar, wide turn back cuffs, and a tiered flounce at the hem. They are 81% cotton, 14% polyamide, and 5% elastane, and each costs $770.

Can I wear a light coat to a wedding?

You can. Over a knee length cocktail dress, the Emma coats ($880) end at the hem. The Iris ($770) finishes level with a dress that ends above the knee. For more coverage over a cocktail dress, the Isidora ($680) reaches mid calf.
