Description

The Iris Short Tailored Coat in Beige is a short coat in a soft European cotton blend with a subtle satin finish, closed with a full front zipper and belted at the natural waist with a metal clasp. A wide collar, long sleeves with turned cuffs, and a tiered hemline that finishes above the knee and moves when you walk. It is built for spring and fall transitional weeks, daily executive wear in a moderate climate, garden weddings, and brunches.

Fabric
Soft European cotton blend (81% cotton, 14% polyamide, 5% elastane) with a subtle satin finish. Pure cotton reads matte and structural; pure satin reads slick and evening-only. The Iris blend has the body of cotton and a finish that reflects light without crossing into evening. The 5% elastane lets the structured silhouette move with the body without crushing. Full front zipper that sharpens the line, metal clasp belt at the natural waist, wide collar that frames the neckline, and the tiered hemline. Handcrafted in the Luna atelier in Pozarevac, Serbia, in limited batches. Designed in Europe. Ships from California.

Fit
The Iris is a fit-and-flare short coat, fitted through the waist. For a defined shape, pull the clasp belt in at the natural waist. Between sizes, take the smaller. Full front zipper closure, wide collar. Refer to the Luna sizing guide for measurements. Model is 5 foot 9 inches wearing size 2.

Styling
Open over the Lucy Draped Blouse in Ivory tucked into the Agatha High-Waisted Wide-Leg Pants in Ivory for tonal soft-formal dressing.
With the Barbara Wide-Leg Pants in Black for warm against cool at restaurant arrivals and the meeting that turns into dinner.
Carried with the Klara Structured Mini Handbag for brunches and garden party arrivals, a compact bag against the short coat line.
Or over the Iris A-Line Midi Dress in Blush Floral for spring garden weddings and outdoor ceremonies, both from the Iris family.
With the Barbara Button Wrap Shirt in Classic White tucked into tailored beige trousers for cream and beige business travel.
Keep the metal tone consistent: gold and pearl read warm with the beige satin; silver reads modern against the cotton blend.

Care
Soft European cotton blend (81% cotton, 14% polyamide, 5% elastane) with a subtle satin finish. Dry clean only. Steam or iron on low if needed. Do not bleach. Steam to refresh between wears; the satin finish responds well to steam.

Why a cotton blend with a satin finish instead of pure cotton or wool?
Because of how the coat reads in light. Pure cotton looks flat and matte under restaurant lighting; pure satin looks slick and belongs to the evening. The 81 percent cotton holds the structured silhouette and the tiered hem; the 14 percent polyamide adds durability and a soft sheen at the surface; the 5 percent elastane gives the coat movement and forgiveness through the bust and shoulder. The result reflects light like satin and reads like cotton in daylight.
What is the tiered hemline and why is it part of the design?
The tiered hemline adds volume and movement at the bottom of the coat without breaking the silhouette. A straight short coat can read boxy on a petite frame; the tiers soften the line and make it move. The hem also breaks the proportion above any pant, which is why the Iris works over wide-leg trousers and tailored cigarette pants alike.
Is this a winter coat or a transitional coat?
Transitional. The Iris is made for spring and fall (50 to 65 degrees) and mild winter days in a moderate climate. For true winter weather, see the Nicole Wool Wrap Coats or the Lucy Wool Coats with Fur Collar.
How is this different from the Linea Belted Midi Coat in Ivory?
Length, cloth, and silhouette. The Linea is a midi-length technical polyester travel coat with a belted waist, made for travel and for ivory that holds its color. The Iris is a short cotton-blend coat with a tiered hem, a zipper closure, and a metal clasp belt, made for movement and a satin finish. Choose the Linea for travel arrivals; choose the Iris for spring and fall daily wear.
How should I size?
Luna coats are cut true to size to wear over a blazer or a knit. Measure your bust at the fullest point, add four to six inches for layering, and compare the result with the size chart on the product page. If you are between sizes and will wear the coat over suiting most days, take the larger size. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
What is the return policy?
A 30 day return window applies.
