Black Midi Dress, Nela

The Nela Midi Dress in Black is a spaghetti-strap A-line midi in textured black with a subtle diagonal weave, a V neckline, and a pleated, flared skirt. It is the deeper-toned counterpart to the ivory Nela, for the woman who wants summer-weight black with some dimension to it: the weave gives the silhouette a depth in photographs that flat black does not carry.

Fabric
European construction in a textured black weave that catches light differently from smooth black cloth under a camera or warm evening light. The black is deep enough to photograph cleanly rather than picking up a grey cast, and the weight suits warm-weather evenings where you will be in it for hours. Fit
True to size through the bodice, with delicate spaghetti straps and a V neckline. The A-line silhouette flares from the waist into a pleated midi skirt. Sizes extend down to 0. Between sizes, choose the smaller for a closer bodice line or the larger for more ease at the bust. See the Luna sizing guide for measurements. Model is 5 foot 9 inches wearing size 2. The length is 46” from the back of the neck to the hem on a size 2.

The coat over it

The Nela skirt is pleated and full down to lower mid calf, and the Black Wool Cape, Selina leaves all of it free. It ends at the hip and ties at the waist. The cape is $770. To cover the whole dress, take the Gray Herringbone Wool Wrap Coat, Nicole ($825), which measures the same as the dress on a size 2, so both hems meet at mid calf.
